New Moms Program 

With the possibility of early post delivery discharge, abnormal changes in the condition of the new mom and/or the newborn may go unnoticed until a significant problem develops. The Anchor New Moms Program facilitates a safe and effective early discharge option by providing the essential assessment and education necessary to prevent problem development. 

WHAT WILL THE ANCHOR NEW MOMS PROGRAM PROVIDE? 

New mom and newborn assessment by a registered nurse 

• Identification of potential problems 

Intervention to prevent problems/identify when to call the doctor 

• Review/reinforce physician's instructions 

• Education regarding: 

• Normal post-partum period . Normal infant growth and development 

• Safety (including infant CPR) 

Infant feeding (breast/bottle) 

Parenting skills 

Family planning . Community resource identification and linkage 

. Additional services provided by maternal/child home heath care workers are available and include: 

. Newborn care 

• Light housekeeping 

Sibling care
